In addition your petitioners are provided with quarters,
conveyance allowance (when necessary) and medical advice.

The increase in the cost of living during the War rendered
the Pre-war rates quoted above absolutely inadequate and in 1978.
a War Bonus of 10% was granted on all salaries.
8. The bonus referred was insufficient to compensate for the
increased cost of living, and as a result of numerous representa-
tions made by members of the Civil Service, on 24th January 1919,
H. E. the Officer Administering the Government appointed a
Commission to enquire into the emoluments of the Public Service
of the Colony.
9.
After the presentation of the Report of the Commissioners
the Government granted another bonus of 10% on all salaries,
and
it was understood that the Report was referred to your Lordship.

granted in the new scale which are not commensurate with the
increased cost of living.
